Sebastián Ceria, an Argentine businessman and majority shareholder of Racing de Santander (85% of the shares), led the club's resurgence after 14 years in the third division. After the promotion to LaLiga, the entrepreneur admitted he couldn't contain his excitement during the first home game in the top tier. The 2-2 draw against Villarreal, though disappointing, marked a turning point for the club. Ceria, 60, defined his role as 'a tech entrepreneur' and explained his philosophy: 'Football isn't about winning, it's about building a bond with the fans'.

The Resurgence of Racing

Ceria and his partners arrived at the club in 2023 with the goal of breaking the 'incredulity' of the fans, who had lost faith after years in the third division. The first season was crucial: the team showed it could compete, and the second year eliminated the 'suffering' associated with the club. In 2025, Racing won the title and now seeks 'I choose to believe' as its motto, inspired by Argentina's 2022 World Cup team. Ceria admitted the change in fan attitude is his greatest achievement: 'The promotion is anecdotal, but the unity is for the future'.

Racing's Playing Style

The project included a revolutionary football approach: a 'relational football' that prioritizes mobility and attacking combinations. Coach José Alberto López designed a system where players abandon fixed positions to concentrate in key areas. This style, called 'rock and roll', was praised even by Diego Simeone, who acknowledged that 'you do exactly the opposite of what I think should be done, but it works well'. However, the Spanish league is unequal: Racing, with revenues of 60 million euros, faces teams like Real Madrid (1.3 billion). Ceria trusts the model, though he acknowledges the challenge: 'The gap is abyssal'.
