The Argentina national team, target of Spain in World Cup final: 'It's easier'. In a broadcast of El Chiringuito de Jugones, the journalists and panelists celebrated the victory of their selection by 2-0 against France and the qualification to the final of the 2026 World Cup, but also asked to face Argentina in the decisive match on Sunday.
The transmission began with the participants entering the studio euphorically and with predictions for the last match. The conductor, Josep Pedrerol, gave the start to the program with the cry of “long live Spain” and with the participants singing.
After that, the journalist looked at the former player Jorge D’Alessandro, one of the panelists, and told him, in a humorous way: “Argentina should be shaking”. However, the former coach did not respond, laughed and continued with the song.
Later, Pedrerol gave the opportunity to the panelists to give their perspective on the victory of Spain and analyze who they would like to face in the final of the World Cup. In his turn, the journalist Juanma Rodríguez, a confessed fan of Real Madrid and one of the most critical of the Argentina national team, pointed out that he does not want his rival to be the albiceleste team.
“Esta es una deja vú. Otra vez con lo mismo. Y no tengo nada en contra de la Argentina, y quien diga eso está equivocado. No me gusta cómo se muestran en las victorias y en las derrotas”, dijo Rodríguez, to which D’Alessandro replied: “And if we haven’t lost for a long time”.
Immediately after, the Spanish panelist continued with his defense and addressed the Argentine journalist Matías Palacios, who was making a mobile. “We come from a World Cup in 2022 in which the Argentina national team was very favored. I understand that you cannot say it, but we are objective journalists and we will say what we see. You cannot say it because you would not be as popular as now, facing the anti-Argentina of the Chiringuito”, he pointed out.
Pedrerol, on the other hand, reacted: “No, that’s not the case. Matías is popular because he is very good. It’s more, he says the same thing in Argentina and in Spain. Facing you does not make him popular or not”.
“But I don’t see any Argentine who is critical of the team and I don’t like it. They are repeating the same modus operandi as in 2022. That’s why I prefer to play against England because it would be a match against 11. If we played against Argentina, it would be against 13: the 11 Argentines, Infantino and the referee. And that would make it harder for Spain”, insisted Rodríguez.
The Argentina national team, on the other hand, continues on a winning streak, with a record of 3W-0D-0L in its last matches. Its last result was a 0-2 against Angola in November 2025.
The World Cup final 2026 will be played on Sunday, and the Argentina national team will be ready to face any rival.
