Argentina Supports Infantino Amid Crisis

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has issued a statement of support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino amid the crisis generated by his proposal to sell part of the World Cup. This backing, along with that of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Mexico, could strengthen Infantino's chances of retaining his position.

AFA Statement

In the statement, the AFA expresses its support for Infantino's management over the past 10 years, highlighting the development of football and the institutional strength based on a clear, stable, and transparent governance model. The AFA acknowledges the decision to withdraw the project that generated uncertainties and errors, and reaffirms its support for Infantino, considering that the path is to continue working under his leadership.

Mexico's Support

The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) announced its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino at a time when the role of the world football leader has been questioned. The FMF stated that football is the fundamental value and that its best defense rests on institutional integrity and respect for governance and the processes that safeguard it.

Africa Backs Infantino

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) showed unanimous support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino. In a statement, the CAF recognized the errors made in the proposed establishment process of the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) and committed to continuing to work with FIFA, its Member Associations, other football confederations, and stakeholders to safeguard and adhere to the best global governance practices, due process, and transparency, and contribute to the development and growth of football worldwide.

This joint support could be crucial for Infantino in the upcoming March elections, where his future as FIFA President will be decided.
